Queen Street Restrictions Begin July 18, Alternate Access to Hospital Maintained

For immediate release: July 15, 2016 – 3:48pmTU16-366

City Park residents and visitors are advised to anticipate traffic detours and parking restrictions on Queen Street, beginning Monday, July 18 for approximately two months.
Alternate access to Saskatoon City Hospital will be clearly marked and emergency vehicles will be notified in advance of changes to entry points, as the project progresses.
This coordinated approach to water distribution, sanitary sewer and road rehabilitation projects required on Queen Street will improve reliability of these services and save money. The projects and associated traffic restrictions are scheduled as follows, weather permitting and barring any unforeseen circumstances:
Monday, July 18

Water valve replacement at 9th Avenue North.

(Overnight) Sanitary sewer lining from 6th Avenue North to 8th Avenue North.
Wednesday, July 20 (8 weeks)

Water main replacement from 6th Avenue North to 8th Avenue North will occur in three phases to minimize the length of time businesses and drivers are impacted.

Road resurfacing on Queen Street from 2nd Avenue North to Spadina Crescent East will occur once all construction is completed.

Affected residents and businesses will be notified directly of any drinking water advisories, or water and sanitary sewer service interruptions with doorhangers or flyers. Visit saskatoon.ca/betterroads to learn more about this project and other road work happening this summer.

Growth Plan Meeting March 14th – 33rd Street Bridge

The City of Saskatoon is hosting a growth plan meeting tomorrow. Please express your opinions about proposals to build another bridge at 33rd Street.

As noted in October 2015, CPCA voted unanimously against the proposed 33rd street bridge. We urge the residents of City Park to stay informed on the project and to make their opinion heard. The proposed plan will direct traffic from the University bridge to the 33rd street bridge, increasing traffic drastically on 33rd street.

Details about the event are posted at the following City of Saskatoon events website.
